Long Live the King!
Whether you’re family or you’ve stumbled upon our QR Code, welcome to KingKennyLives.com! This is a memorial page to our liege, King Kenny, First of His Name, Lord of the Kennonites, Patriarch of the Skillman Family, and Patron Saint of Persons with Disabilities.
No, that isn’t a random historical photo of a King, that’s him. THE King. No. Not Elvis. The only reigning American monarch. King Kenny.
A Little About Ken
Hailing from the quiet little midwestern hamlet of Garnett, KS. Kenneth Lee Skillman was larger than life from the very beginning. Growing up under the semi watchful eye of his mother, Nadine. Kenny grew to be a kind and generous soul who earned the love and respect of all who knew him. Though his title is not legally recognized, it is one of the few honorifics in the world that was actually earned by being an all around decent person.
Now, Don’t get me wrong. He had flaws. Or at least he was gracious enough to pretend to have them. He even had a particular brand of tantrum named for him. The Kenny Fit. Like any good monarch, when things weren’t up to snuff, he’d let you know it.
When not shepherding his flock, Ken worked tirelessly, helping people with Developmental Disabilities live full lives. Whether working with disadvantaged youth in KCK, adults with Prader-Willi in South Kansas City, or individuals in the Tri-County area of SE Kansas, Ken was a well known champion for the most marginalized populations with a reputation for taking on some of the most difficult cases.
